Terms of use

The rules for using PsychologyOrbit. Plain wording, because a term nobody reads protects nobody.

What this platform is

  • A professional network and research repository for psychology.
  • It is not a health service, not a clinical record system, not a substitute for supervision, and not an emergency service.
  • Nothing published here is clinical advice, and a verified badge is not a recommendation of anyone.

Your account

  • You must give accurate information about who you are and what you are qualified in.
  • Claiming a qualification you do not hold is grounds for immediate removal, and on a platform whose purpose is credential trust it is the most serious rule here.
  • One account per person. Organisation accounts are for the organisation, run by a named representative.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Turn on two-factor authentication.

What you own

  • You keep copyright in everything you post and upload. We do not claim ownership of your research, your writing, or your profile.
  • By posting publicly you give us the licence needed to display, distribute and index it on the platform. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already made by search engines and other members.

What you may not do

  • Post anything that could identify a client, patient or research participant.
  • Upload material you do not have the right to share.
  • Impersonate a person, an organisation, or PsychologyOrbit staff.
  • Harass, threaten, or target anyone.
  • Give clinical advice to individuals who are seeking help for themselves.
  • Scrape, resell, or bulk-extract member data.
  • Use the platform to market, recruit or sell outside the areas that exist for it.

Moderation

  • Content that breaks these rules is removed. Accounts that repeatedly break them are suspended.
  • Anything that appears to identify a client is removed on sight and reviewed afterwards, not the other way round.
  • You can appeal any decision by contacting us, and a different reviewer will look at it.

Liability

  • The platform is provided as it is. We do not warrant that any member is competent, that any research is correct, or that any advice given in discussion is sound.
  • We are not liable for decisions made on the basis of anything posted here.
