What this is

Four things, built for one field

Psychology gets treated as a category on general platforms. Here it is the whole product, so the verification tiers, the research types and the community structure are the ones psychology actually uses.

A profile that proves something

Seven verification tiers, from student enrolment to a professional licence. Every badge records which body was checked and when, and a reviewer grants it. Nothing is automatic, and nothing is a guess.

How verification works

Research with a permanent address

Articles, preprints, theses, posters, datasets and replications, each with a citable PsychologyOrbit ID, an APA-ready citation, and honest read and download counts. Rights are declared on upload.

Colleagues, findable by what they study

Search by specialisation, method, population, language, country and city. Find a statistician for your design, a supervisor in your jurisdiction, or the three other people working on your question.

Discussion that stays professional

Subject communities with real moderation, questions that get answered by people who can show their credentials, and strict rules against any identifying detail in case discussion.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

A behavioural therapy that works on the relationship a person has with their thoughts and feelings rather than on the content of those thoughts, aiming at psychological flexibility and action guided by personal values.

ADHD

A neurodevelopmental condition involving persistent inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity at a level that interferes with functioning, present before age 12 and across more than one setting.

Adolescent Brain Development

The prolonged reorganisation of the brain through the second decade of life, involving synaptic pruning, continued myelination and shifting balance between reward-sensitive and control systems.

Adverse Childhood Experiences

A set of childhood exposures — abuse, neglect and household dysfunction — that show a graded association with poorer health, mental health and social outcomes in adulthood. Widely adopted in policy, and widely misused at the individual level.

Big Five Personality Traits

A five-factor description of personality — openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism — derived from the structure of trait language and replicated across many samples and instruments.

Attachment Theory

An account of the biologically-based system that leads infants to seek proximity to a caregiver under threat, and of how repeated experience with that caregiver shapes expectations about closeness, distress and dependence.

Autism

A lifelong neurodevelopmental difference involving differences in social communication and interaction alongside restricted or repetitive patterns of behaviour, interests or activities, and differences in sensory processing.

Bipolar Disorder

A mood disorder marked by episodes of mania or hypomania — elevated or irritable mood with increased energy — usually alongside episodes of depression. It is highly treatable, but often misdiagnosed as depression for years.

Questions

Before you join

Who is PsychologyOrbit for?

Psychologists, therapists, counsellors, researchers, professors and psychology students, plus universities, research labs, clinics and professional associations. Membership is free and open worldwide.

What does a verified badge on PsychologyOrbit mean?

That a reviewer checked a specific document against a specific issuing body and recorded which one. Hovering a badge shows what was checked and when. Badges are never granted automatically.

Does PsychologyOrbit provide therapy or clinical advice?

No. It is a professional community, not a health service and not an emergency service. Nothing published here is clinical advice, and case discussions must never contain information that could identify a client.

What does it cost to publish research on PsychologyOrbit?

Nothing. Publishing, reading and downloading are free. Uploaders confirm what rights they hold in the version they share, and link-only entries are supported for work they cannot redistribute.
